Ted Williams Reunites with Mom (Watch!)

By Heather B on January 7th, 2011

Ted Williams, the homeless man with the golden voice who was discovered while panhandling for change on the I-71 in Ohio, was finally reunited with his mother Friday morning.

“Hi Mommy! Hi Mommy! Hi Mommy!” Ted repeated as he approached his mother, Julia Williams, at a New York City hotel.  “I told you I was coming this year.  I don’t look my best, but I’m home.”

“Please don’t disappoint me,” she tells Ted.  “I’m not, Mom.  I’m not,” he responded.  “I’m through with it all.  Mother, I love you.”

Watch Ted Williams reunite with his mother below:

Ted’s ex-wife, Patricia Kirtley, reportedly called Julia to explain her son’s amazing new fortune.  “She didn’t believe it until I called her,” Patricia revealed [via the Daily Mail].  “She is so overwhelmed.  I think she does not want him to mess it up.  She said this is an opportunity and a second chance.”

Ted admitted to battling drugs and alcohol, and further details of his criminal past have been revealed – including arrests for robbery, theft, escape, forgery, and drug possession.

Now, however, the spokesman has a real opportunity to turn his life around.   “It’s like almost winning the Mega Ball lottery or something,” Ted said on the ‘Today’ show after his You Tube video went viral.  “It’s just phenomenal.”
