Singer Jewel was just starting her job as the co-host of the new reality show ‘Going Platinum’ when she received some more happy news: “I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!” Jewel revealed to PEOPLE.
“It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I’d start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant.’”
Currently in her second trimester, Jewel and her husband, rodeo star Ty Murray, are ready to announce their good news.
“We’re so excited to be expecting our first baby,” Ty said. “We always knew we wanted to have a child, and this time in our lives feels right.”
The couple had been trying for a child for the last two years, beginning shortly after their 2008 wedding in the Bahamas.
“I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way,” the singer admitted about her struggle to conceive. “I feel really lucky.”
