It just shows you, it can happen to anyone. Twenty three year old Blair Griffith won the title of Miss Colorado, 2011 in October. A month later she and her mother, Bonita, were evicted from their Denver home with nowhere to go. In short. They were homeless.
Blair Griffith is not a drug addict or a mental patient. She’s done nothing wrong to get to where she is. In fact, not only is she a beauty queen, she has also managed to graduate magna cum laude from the Art Institute of Colorado.
But life has been hard, all the same. Her father died when she was just fourteen, and her mother had a heart attack three years ago that left her unable to work. The young pageant queen has been trying to support herself and her mother with a job at Saks in Denver, but the store is closing in March.
Griffiths is using her own misfortunes to inspire others while she goes about her pageant duties, speaking at schools across the state, and prepares for the upcoming Miss USA pageant. Hopefully, her courage and steadfast positivity will help her give a face, and a voice, to the ever growing ranks of the working poor.
