Emma Watson Leaves Brown University: Good Decision or Bad?

By Bridget Tyler on March 8th, 2011

Emma Watson may be the girl who can do it all, but trying to wrap up one of the most famous franchises in history while also taking her first steps as an adult actress outside the role that made her famous and be the face of Burberry AND be a successful college kid is too much even for her.  On Monday, Watson announced that she’s taking a leave of absence from Brown University.

“As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student and fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible,” she wrote on her official website.

“I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on “Harry Potter” (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects,” Watson, 20, continued. “I will still be working towards my degree…it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought.”

While you could take this as the first misstep that the otherwise totally unflappable young star has taken, it seems more like evidence that she’s taking her education seriously, rather than stumbling through it by half measures while juggling her blossoming career.  Something tells us she means it when she says she’ll finish her degree.  Frankly, we can’t wait to see what she does next!

Do you think Emma made the right choice in holding off on college?
