Nickelodeon has decided to put its classic Nick Toons cartoons back into production and awesome shows from the 90’s like Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold and (hopefully) Rocko’s Modern Life will come out with new episodes. On top of the new episodes of classic cartoons, Nickelodeon will be re-airing its classic original shows like Pete & Pete, Clarissa Explains It All and All That. Fellow Children of the 90’s have loved these shows for decades now and hearing that there will be new episodes is absolutely awesome.
“At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11,” TeenNick GM Keith Dawkins says. ““It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”
This, along with the news that Thundercats is back, is some of the best news I have heard in a long time. I don’t care that this is an obvious atempt to gain old viewers back, I”m falling hook, line and sinker for it. I’m a kid at heart and I love nothing more than my classic cartoons and their characters. I can’t wait to see Tommy and Chucky back in diapers, Pete wiggle his tattoo Petunia, Doug try to woo Patty Mayonaise and all the other great things from my childhood.
These cartoons withstand the test of time and should be a great way for you and your kids to enjoy some quality programming together. Just think about all the cartoons they watch all the time and that you hate. Now think of them watching all the cartoons you love and enjoying them just as much. Well pretty soon it will happen and nothing could be sweeter I think.
There are plenty of Nickelodeon show I would love to see again. Give me more Salute Your Shorts, You Can’t Do That On Television, Round House, Ren and Stimpy, etc. What shows would you like to see Nick bring back?
