Last weekend, Kidglue had the opportunity to head down to Palm Beach and test drive the all new Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet. This Cross-over vehicle / convertible is just the vehicle if you’re looking for a tough ride with all the fixins!
The Look
The Nissan CrossCabriolet definitely has its WOW factor. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a vehicle that looks like it. When I first envisioned what a cross cabriolet would look like – I immediately thought – SUV with the top cut off. Although the CC has the front end of the Murano, there is very little resemblance of the famous Nissan SUV in the vehicle.
There are lots of color choices to choose from: Caribbean (as in the photo), glacier pearl, sunset bronze, super black, platinum graphite and merlot. I drove the merlot and loved how the deeper red gave the classic “red” convertible a more expensive look. The interior colors range from Black, to Cashmere to Camel while the top colors come in beige and black.
The interior exudes class in every way – the wood grain gives that warm expensive look while the double stitching on the quilted seatback gives you the high quality feel. The roof is a soft top and takes around 25 seconds to completely drop back – but no pushing and pulling required – simply a push of a button will do all the heavy lifting for you.
Is the car safe?
Yes the car looks great, but when kids are involved – safety is your number one issue – and the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is safe. The vehicle has Nissan’s advanced air bag system with drive and front passenger side impact supplemental air bags as well as your regular air bags. The front seat has active head restraints and dual pop up roll bars will automatically be released if your car tilts at an uncomfortable angle. The car also contains two important features: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS). VDC and TCS constantly monitor your vehicle’s direction and use the brake, throttle and engine to help maintain stability in the worst conditions. Not only do you have all wheel drive, but when your wheels are spinning without traction and going into a direction your brakes will slow to help control the vehicles direction, slow down spinning wheels to gain traction again, and cut a bit of the engine power help you regain control.

The great thing about the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet is that it’s fully loaded. Beyond the leather seating, you’re looking at headed front seats and steering wheel, a Navigation System, Bose AM/FM.CD audio system with 8 speakers (subwoofer too!) and a rearview monitor help with reversing.
