Jesse Koczon, a five year old from Old Bridge New Jersey, earned internet fame because of an unusual dream. He wanted to be the Governor of New Jersey. The tots parents taped his heartbroken sobbing in the backseat of their car as he explained that he was sad because he wanted to be Governor and he knew no one would let him. On the video, Jesse’s mother asks him why he’s upset. Jesse replies, “Cause everyone tells me I’m too small to be the governor of New Jersey.”
Well, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey is ready to do something about that. After seeing the YouTube clip of Jesse sobbing a year ago after going to a polling place during the 2009 elections with his parents and being told he was too small to vote, and thus too small to be Governor, Christie immediately “related as a father” to the family’s amusing predicament. Christie showed the video to his wife who immediately suggested that he bring the boys in to meet him.
Christie’s response on Twitter to the video was: “Don’t worry Jesse, people gave plenty of reasons why I couldn’t be governor, though being too small wasn’t one of them.” Wednesday, Christie followed up his tweet with action, inviting the boys to his office and signing a proclamation making Jesse honorary governor for the day and Brandon honorary lieutenant governor.
