Tina Fey, the brilliant mind behind Liz Lemon and the 30 Rock gang, announced on Thursday during a visit with Oprah that she is pregnant with her second child. Fey is already mom to five and a half year old Alice, and now she and her composer husband, Jeff Richmond, are adding to their family.
Fey is five months along, and with 30 Rock wrapped for the year, she won’t have to worry about either hiding a pregnancy while filming or adding a story line in which perennial single Liz Lemon gets pregnant.
Fey is relieved not to have to worry about working in the final months of her second pregnancy. She’s also relieved that she won’t have to deal with questions about whether she plans to have a second child any more. ”I wish I had a better joke response,” Fey told People Magazine in an interview before she revealed she was pregnant. “[I'd] usually just go, ‘I don’t know, I’m pretty old. Down to the wire! I need a good joke.’ ”
Fey announced her happy news during a visit to the Oprah Winfrey show to promote her new book, Bossypants, and an upcoming Saturday Night Live reunion. Her episode of Oprah will air April 12th.
