Justin Bieber is used to being paparazzi fodder, but the behavior of the photogs who have been following him during his visit to Israel is getting under the young star’s skin. Bieber is scheduled to play a concert in Tel Aviv on Thursday, but before then he’d apparently planned to treat the visit as something of a pilgrimage.
Twitter messages posted on Tuesday make it clear that the Israeli press are making it hard for him to do that.
“You would think paparazzi would have some respect in holy places,” Beiber wrote (he’s a practicing Christian). “All I wanted was the chance to walk where jesus did here in isreal (sic).”
“They should be ashamed of themselves. Take pictures of me eating but not in a place of prayer, ridiculous … People wait their whole lives for opportunities like this, why would they want to take that experience away from someone… Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?”
According to the London-based Jewish Chronicle, Bieber was meant to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and tour the Dead Sea, Masada and Caesarea. The next leg of his world tour will take him through Asia and the Pacific islands, starting with a concert in Malaysia on April 21st.
