Yesterday two teens pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment charges. They were charged with the bullying of a 15 year old Irish Immigrant Phoebe Prince which ultimately led to her suicide.
Sean Mulveyhill and Kalyla Narey were originally facing some serious charges – violation of civil rights as well as causing bodily injury. This could have given them 10 years in jail.
Instead the two received a year’s probation and 100 hours of community service.
Four other students are set to appear in juvenile court on Thursday and will likely receive the same sentence. The sixth person Austin Renaud is being charged with statutory rape, and is scheduled to start on July 6.
Our hearts go out to the family of Pheobe Prince. Although the news can never bring back their daughter hopefully it can give them some closure.
What do you think about the sentencing – Was it Harsh enough?
