Pippa Middleton’s Dress Inspires Knock Offs

By Bridget Tyler on May 9th, 2011

Kate Middleton, now Duchess Catherine, couldn’t have shone more brightly on her wedding day, and she didn’t have to make her maid of honor look like she’d gotten dressed in the dark to do it.  The MOH dress that her sister Pippa wore was just as beautiful, in its own way, as the Duchess’s wedding dress.  In fact, rumor has it that it was considered as a wedding dress originally but rejected in favor of the stunner Catherine chose to walk down the aisle in.

That hasn’t stopped the designers who are rushing to produce their own versions of the royal wedding gown from adding Pippa’s dress to their list of things to do.

“The second we saw it on the screen, it was beautiful,” Omid Moradi, chief executive for Faviana, a dress-making business based in Manhattan told the New York Times. “It was just very elegant and glamorous.”

It’s nice to see a bride not worrying so much about her own image that she, consciously or unconsciously, feels the need to sabotage her bridal party’s look.

“There was really no anticipation about Pippa’s dress,” Dan Rentillo, design director for David’s Bridal, which will also make a version of her gown, told the Times. “I can’t think of one where there was such a fuss over the bridesmaid’s dress.”
