Scotty McCreery, one of the top three American Idol finalists this season, got the chance of a lifetime during his traditional homecoming concert in Garner, North Carolina. He got to meet one of his professional heroes, Josh Turner. McCreery used one of Turner’s songs, Your Man, for his audition. It was during a reprise of that same song that Turner surprised McCreery on stage.
As you can see in the clip, it took a moment for McCreery to realize what was happening. When it finally did dawn on him that he was on stage, singing with one of his idols, the seventeen year old could barely contain himself. He did manage to stay professional and keep singing though.
“Thanks for singing my songs,” Turner said during a break between songs. McCreery replied: “Thank you for singing them first!”
The pair then performed another Josh song Scotty once sang on American Idol (during Hollywood Week), Long Black Train.
“It’s good to see someone waving the country music flag out there in Hollywood,” Turner told the enthusiastic hometown crowd.
